prometheus wades into water
being unable to walk on water
he thinks of time
and the dissolution of the earth

thinking of love prometheus asks
for restitutional wine  pain
bread and cigarettes  the tangible
tenor of the esophageal approach


refining his craft prometheus returns
to the sea  from the waves he begs
forgiveness  instructed to go
to the city  he discovers rhythm

cars  noses  sand  hair
obesity  recurrence  telemakos
disestablishmentarianism
legs  love


to the city old prometheus brings
the fire of his heart and the taste
of liver  declaims  it is not
time  when it comes  you will know

how to live  you will know
when to leave  and how
so prometheus takes
his friend's wings


in the darkness of city lights 
prometheus looks at the faces
and says  i will bring to you  time
water  and light  but not just
                                        yet
